San Antonio patients who come to plastic surgeon, Dr. Michael E. Decherd for BOTOX injections are looking for a way to smooth fine lines and wrinkles around their eyes and foreheads. These dynamic wrinkles can cause a person to look like they're constantly frowning, and definitely contribute to an older appearance. Dr. Decherd knows how to use this popular product to create results that take years off in a very natural way. BOTOX Cosmetic is a purified protein that, when injected into very specific facial muscles, causes those muscles to relax, smoothing dynamic wrinkles (those that are caused by repeated facial expressions).
Conditions Treated by BOTOX
BOTOX is probably one of the most popular nonsurgical facial cosmetic procedures in the U.S. today. It is used by both men and women to treat:
- Crow's feet
- Horizontal forehead furrows
- Vertical frown lines between the eyes
BOTOX can also be used to treat excessive sweating and assist with migraines.
"Dr. Decherd is a very personable doctor! I visited with many other plastic surgeons before I decided to have liposuction and botox performed by him. All the others seemed to just be rushing people in a out. I have consulted with Dr. Decherd throughout all of my procedures, which is very comforting and great that I am getting the Drs time that I am paying for. I would highly recommend Dr. Decherd to anyone looking for a plastic surgeon. Do yourself a favor and look at the before and after pics and you can see that no one else compares to him!"- Anonymous / RateMDs / Feb 12, 2013

"My New Guilty Pleasure! - San Antonio, TX - I had previously had lipsuction with him and really enjoyed the attention he gave to his patients. After checking around for botox prices there was really no way i would comprimise my body for a less qualitfied technician to perform the work for me. You cant be his great prices, skill, and personality!"- H. / RealSelf / Feb 11, 2013
BOTOX is performed in-office in our minor procedures room. Before treatment, the patient’s face will be cleansed thoroughly, and then Dr. Decherd will mark the specific injection points with ink. Dr. Decherd uses a very tiny needle to inject BOTOX Cosmetic into these specific muscles. Most patients don't require any anesthetic. Cold compression will be put on the areas for a few sections after the injection. Patients will be a bit red where the injections occurred, but this only lasts for about an hour or so. Patients can resume normal activities but exercise should be avoided until the next day.

Does It Hurt?
No. BOTOX injections do not hurt. There may be slight discomfort with the prick of the needle, but the use of a numbing cream and cold compression helps. BOTOX is generally a pain-free procedure.
What Are The Results?
The results from BOTOX injections usually emerge gradually within about 7 days of treatment. Most patients see a significant fading of crow's feet and forehead wrinkles and a more relaxed looking brow. These effects typically last 3 to 4 months before more injections are needed.
Is It Safe?
Various forms of BOTOX have been used for decades for a number of medical uses. It is FDA-approved for the treatment of forehead lines and wrinkles and is considered safe and effective for cosmetic treatment.
Combine With Other Procedures?
BOTOX is often combined with other procedure such as a browlift, facelift, chemical peel, or an injectable filler. When combined with other nonsurgical cosmetic treatments, it is labeled a “liquid facelift” and can turn back the hands of time without having to undergo surgery.
What Does This Cost?
The average cost per syringe of BOTOX is about $350 — give or take. Some patients will only require a single syringe, where others may need 2-3. This procedure also needs to be repeated about every 3-4 months should patients want to continue to maintain their results. This should be considered when contemplating pricing.
